CAD Designer/Drafter

Job Objective: Prepare detailed fabrication prints of a variety of steel structures in accordance with common detailing practices and customer provided requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary programs are Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Excel. Qualified candidate will meet the following criteria:
• Experience with CAD software (Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor,etc.)
• Strong grasp and understanding of geometry and trigonometry (circular and triangular).
• Ability to understand & read engineered blue prints.
• Ability to recognize differences between real world scenarios and CAD based output, and apply to drawings accordingly.
• Able to work as a team as well as work without constant supervision.
• Experience programming with CAD software (iLogic, VB) is highly recommended.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, steel dwg’s, fabrication, and weld symbols is a plus!

Potential candidates will be asked to demonstrate their basic math (circular and triangular trigonometry and geometry) and Autodesk Inventor skill set during interview.

Qualifications Required:
High school diploma or G.E.D.
Degree in Drafting


Fabricator – Stairs & Railings

Job Objective: To accurately and efficiently perform all functions necessary to fabricate in a shop environment or on a project location using miscellaneous and structural metals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be willing and able to learn, teach and interact with all functions to support fabrication of miscellaneous iron.
  • Comply with all applicable safety procedures and report unsafe conditions or potential safety hazards to appropriate person.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area.
  • Notify appropriate person when problems arise concerning equipment, operations, materials, inventory and documentation.
  • Perform set-up duties in accordance with production schedule and your duties: (i.e. help load and get things ready for next day activities).
  • Move with assistance as necessary production materials as required.
  • Maintain production equipment and materials necessary to complete the operation.
  • Meet established performance standards to ensure production schedules are met.
  • Ensure that products and systems meet Distinctive Iron quality specifications.
  • Perform transactions necessary to maintain accurate records and inventory balance.
  • Perform rotational assignments including grinding, wire wheeling, part cutting, welding, spotwelding, painting, installation and other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications Required:
    High school diploma or G.E.D
    AWS Welding Certification
    3 years of recent experience in field ****** MUST HAVE
    Proven experience with fabricating structural steel, stair, guardrails
    Proven ability to use math accurately to calculate (including but not limited to) slope/run/stair treads/beams/columns/gussets


    Project Manager

    Job Objective: Coordinate the activities and flow of work related to customers. Including but not limited to, design, fabrication and installation for Commercial customers as appropriate. Working closely with the DI management team.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Comply and support company policies and procedures
    • Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area; whether in the shop, office or on a job-site
    • Coordinate the production of Commercial projects working with the other project managers as appropriate
    • Meet established performance standards as related to Commercial code
    • Accurately articulate code for Commercial customers and fabricators according to current standards
    • Ensure production schedules are met, along with keeping the customer informed for the duration of the project
    • Always represent the company in a positive way to the customers, vendors, and co-workers
    • Ensure that products and systems meet Distinctive Iron quality specifications
    • Communicate appropriately with customers and co-workers
    • Perform transactions necessary to maintain accurate records.
    • Fabricate or outsource as appropriate production of miscellaneous/ornamental metals
    • Notify appropriate person when problems arise concerning equipment, operations, materials, inventory and documentation

    Qualifications Required:
    High school diploma or G.E.D.
    Experience with fabricating miscellaneous metals.
    Welding certification as required by job.
    Proven experience in managing construction projects.
